Simply stated, Advent House exists to:

  • Provide a Christian living experience for students in harmony with a Christian lifestyle in the midst of a public university setting
  • Provide a comfortable, supportive gathering place for students
  • Provide opportunities for spiritual growth and leadership
  • Provide a lower-than-average-cost residence for students
  • Provide support to the ministry of Adventist Christian Fellowship at UTK

Residents are expected to:

  • Participate in the fellowship and ministry of ACF
  • Be open to and seeking spiritual growth from wherever they are
  • Share in weekly household tasks
  • Support and interact with others in the ACF ministry
  • Assist chaplains in welcoming visitors
  • Attend monthly house meetings with fellow residents

Residency is on a selection basis. If what is described above interests you, the following criteria need to be met:

  • Participate with ACF for at least one semester before submitting an application
  • Complete the application for residency
  • Interview with the Advent House Board (and receive a “yes” vote)

Living accommodations

  • Upstairs in house
  • Large room with private bathroom
  • Two smaller rooms with shared bathroom


  • Two separate, full-service apartments
  • Capacity to house two students each

First floor:

  • Fully furnished kitchen*
  • Large living room*
  • Chaplain offices


  • Recreation/TV room*
  • Laundry room*
  • Study room*

*areas shared by all residents
